Military Transport Plane Crashes in Russia’s Ivanovo Region

December 9, 2025 – A Russian Ministry of Defense military transport aircraft crashed Tuesday afternoon in the Furmanovsky District of Ivanovo Region, local emergency services reported.

The accident occurred shortly after takeoff from Ivanovo airfield during what was described as a routine flight. Seven crew members were on board.

According to preliminary information from regional emergency officials, a fire erupted following the impact but was quickly brought under control. Firefighting teams from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, police, and military units remain at the scene.

As of now, there have been no confirmed reports of fatalities or injuries. Rescue and recovery operations are ongoing, with efforts focused on securing the wreckage and accounting for all crew members.

The cause of the crash has not yet been established. An official investigation is expected to be launched by military and aviation authorities.
