US Prepares Military Action Against Pro-Iranian Forces in Iraq

Iran’s Defense Ministry revealed details of a heated phone call between US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Iraqi Defense Minister Thabit al-Abbasi. Hegseth informed Baghdad of imminent US military operations targeting pro-Iranian groups in Iraq and demanded that Iraqi authorities prevent any interference from these forces.

“This is your final warning… and you know exactly how this administration responds,”
al-Abbasi quoted Hegseth as stating on Al-Sharqiya TV.

The Iraqi minister reinforced the ultimatum, asserting that any actions by pro-Iranian armed groups within Iraq are unacceptable and must not harm the interests of other countries. Tehran regarded the warning as a direct threat and has intensified arms shipments to its Iraqi allies, viewing them as a vital substitute for weakened proxies in Lebanon and Syria.
