Kyiv, November 4, 2025 – United States Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker made an unannounced visit to Kyiv on Monday, where he held urgent talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Mariinsky Palace.
Emerging from the meeting, Whitaker told reporters:
“I made it clear that this senseless conflict must end, and that peace—achieved through the efforts of President Trump—is the only viable path forward.”
The Presidential Office confirmed the meeting but has not yet commented on its content.
The ambassador’s visit comes as Washington signals the imminent start of direct negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv, to be conducted under U.S. mediation.
