Pakistan Mobilizes Armored Vehicles to Indian Border

Share

The conflict between India and Pakistan in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir is intensifying, raising alarm bells over the potential for full-scale war. On the night of May 10, 2025, four powerful explosions rocked the Indian city of Amritsar in Punjab, causing widespread panic among residents. Concurrently, Pakistani media reported missile strikes by India on three Pakistani air bases, significantly heightening tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations.

The blasts in Amritsar, which occurred near key infrastructure and close to the international airport, sent locals scrambling for safety. Witnesses reported hearing sirens and chaotic evacuations, with social media flooded with videos capturing flashes in the sky, presumably from missiles or drones. While Indian authorities have yet to provide details on the extent of the damage or any casualties, The Times of India indicates that security measures in the city have been significantly increased, with the military placed on high alert. Pakistan has accused India of provocation, asserting that the attacks on Amritsar were retaliatory actions against its armed forces.

The missile strikes on Pakistani air bases, have been corroborated by military officials in Islamabad. According to Pakistan, the targeted facilities were located in Rawalpindi, Sargodha, and Mianwali, where critical air force operations are believed to be based. Pakistani military sources claim that their air defense systems partially thwarted the attack, though reports regarding damage and casualties remain inconsistent. Additionally, user reports on X platform indicate the movement of Pakistani armored vehicles toward the border, suggesting preparations for a possible counteroffensive.

This escalation follows a deadly attack on tourists in Kashmir on April 22, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals and prompted India to blame Pakistan for the violence. This incident triggered India’s Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, which targeted nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. In retaliation, Pakistan has reportedly conducted missile strikes, including attacks on Amritsar airport, stoking fears of an all-out conflict in the region.
