April 24, 2025 — Kyiv and several other regions of Ukraine were targeted in a powerful combined assault of drones and missiles. According to Ukrainian military sources, this attack ranks among the most intense experienced in recent months.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the assault commenced with a wave of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), followed by a barrage of ballistic and cruise missiles. This coordinated attack resulted in significant damage to infrastructure and caused numerous fires across the affected areas.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the initial wave consisted of kamikaze drones, believed to be of the Shahed type. This was followed by launches of Kh-101 and Kh-555 cruise missiles from Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers, alongside ballistic missile strikes.
While the Russian Defense Ministry has yet to issue a statement regarding the overnight attacks, previous communications from the agency have indicated that such operations are aimed at targeting military and strategic facilities within Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has previously dismissed accusations of strikes on civilian infrastructure, asserting that damage was primarily inflicted by the fall of Ukrainian air defense missiles and that high-precision weapons were utilized in the attacks.
