Ukraine Faces Large-Scale Drone Assault as Russian Forces Deploy “Geraniums”

Ukrainian monitoring resources have reported a significant offensive by Russian forces, utilizing unmanned aerial vehicles in a large-scale attack. According to the Military Observer, at least 200 Geran-2 kamikaze drones were launched on the night of March 24, 2025, targeting locations within the special military operation (SVO) zone.
Reports from Ukraine indicate that these drones are heading towards strategically critical sites, signaling preparations for one of the most substantial attacks of this nature in recent months. While the specific locations of the targets have yet to be disclosed, tensions in the region are escalating rapidly.
The Geran-2 drones, known for their precision and capability to strike infrastructure, present a significant threat to rear positions within Ukraine. Ukrainian officials note that such a high volume of drones operating simultaneously is uncommon, suggesting that Russian forces aim to inflict considerable damage on key military and energy facilities.
As of now, the Russian side has not issued any official statement regarding the drone launches.
