Militants Seize 450 Passengers in Major Train Hostage Crisis in Pakistan

In a disturbing escalation of violence, armed militants have taken approximately 450 passengers hostage on a train in Pakistan, marking one of the largest hostage incidents in recent years. The attack occurred on the morning of March 11, 2025, in Balochistan, a province notorious for its complex political and security challenges.

Preliminary reports indicate that the train, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, was halted by armed assailants who then seized control of the passengers, including women and children. Despite its rich natural resources, Balochistan remains one of the poorest and most unstable provinces in Pakistan, creating an environment conducive to radical movements.
