Algeria – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, held talks today, Sunday, at the Ministry’s headquarters, with the Palestinian Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Mr. Muhammad Mustafa.

In a welcoming speech, Mr. Attaf stressed that the visit of the Palestinian Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates comes in light of the continuation of the “unjust and brutal Zionist aggression targeting the Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially in the Gaza Strip.”

Mr. Attaf stressed that “this aggression is no longer hidden from anyone in the international community, its criminal nature and its apparent and hidden goals, which all converge in one goal, which is to liquidate the Palestinian cause and undermine the authentic and inherent national project closely linked to it.”

He pointed out that “the escalations and provocations currently being stoked by the Israeli settlement occupation in all directions and at many levels are all aimed at diverting attention from the Palestinian issue, obliterating the facts related to it, and completely excluding it from the list of priorities of the international community.”

“Despite the seriousness of the current circumstance and its extreme difficulty,” says Mr. Attaf, “our confidence remains great that it will not, in any way, undermine the resolve of our Palestinian people, who create epics after epics with their legendary steadfastness, while they carry in their hands the banner of truth, and confront with their steadfastness the killing that targets them.” And sabotage and destruction, and with their help they bring down the conspiracies and machinations that are being hatched against them.”

Mr. Attaf added, saying: “There is no doubt that we are facing a pivotal and critical stage in the history of the Palestinian issue, a stage after which will be completely different from what came before it. The world today has become fully aware of the necessity, indeed the inevitability, of addressing the core of the entire conflict by accelerating the establishment of a sovereign and independent Palestinian state.” The 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

From this perspective – Mr. Attaf adds – “The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has given strict instructions to dedicate Algeria’s membership in the Security Council to supporting the Palestinian cause, so that we can live up to the responsibility entrusted to us and so that we can contribute as much as possible to alleviating the suffering of our people in All parts of the occupied Palestinian territories, especially in the Gaza Strip.

He stressed that “our efforts in this central United Nations body are still fully coordinated with the Palestinian brothers and the rest of the Arab brothers, and even all of our geopolitical affiliation groups, both African and Islamic, in addition to the Non-Aligned Movement.”

These efforts target – Mr. Attaf adds – “two main levels of priorities, namely the circumstantial priorities, which are to stop the Israeli aggression and take care of its catastrophic remnants, in addition to the non-circumstantial priorities, which lie in preserving the foundations and components of the Palestinian state and mobilizing more international support in its favor.”

He pointed out that these priorities formed the focus of the important talks that recently brought together President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his brother, President Mahmoud Abbas, who, as he said, “entrusted us with strengthening inter-coordination and raising its level in preparation for the upcoming and imminent stations and entitlements related to the Palestinian issue at the level of the United Nations.” In general, and at the Security Council level in particular.”

Therefore – Mr. Attaf adds – “Our meeting today, which comes to dedicate these precise instructions and these lofty directives and which takes place with the participation of the permanent delegates of Algeria and Palestine to the United Nations, is of great importance in view of the joint diplomatic efforts and endeavors that await us in the coming days, weeks and months, especially The Security Council is preparing to reopen the file of full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations.”

Mr. Attaf reiterated what the President of the Republic emphasized on more than one occasion, that “Algeria remains at your disposal, and that it will spare no effort in hearing your voice and promoting your interests within the Security Council, and that it will continue to defend the Palestinian cause with all honesty, sincerity and loyalty.” For his part, Mr. Muhammad Mustafa highlighted, during the talks, “the depth and distinction of relations between Algeria and Palestine,” praising Algeria’s continued support for the Palestinian cause.

In this context, he said: “We rely a lot on Algeria and its role, especially its presence in the Security Council, and we also bet on its efforts to achieve the establishment of a free and independent Palestinian state,” expressing his hope that what “Algeria will do in the future in favor of the Palestinian cause will achieve achievement.” “The greatest embodiment of the independent Palestinian state.”

The Palestinian official also spoke about the efforts aimed at enabling the State of Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations, which will also be – as he said – “another stop in favor of the Palestinian cause and not the last.”

Regarding the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, Mr. Muhammad Mustafa said that the Palestinian people are going through a difficult situation under occupation, as is the case in Gaza, but they will remain steadfast and will not leave, and they are determined to achieve independence and freedom.

He added: “With your efforts, we will work to establish an urgent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and provide aid before the beginning of the reconstruction process in the Strip, which witnessed great destruction.

We hope that the efforts that you will make in the next stage in cooperation with brothers and friends in the world will be crowned with the final achievement of establishing a Palestinian state.” “Independent.”
