GENEVA – UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres denounced during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the inaction of the international community in the face of the aggression of the Zionist entity in Gaza, reiterating its call for an immediate ceasefire in the Palestinian enclave and the establishment of lasting peace in the region on the basis of a two-state solution.
“The world stands idly by as civilians, mainly women and children, are killed, maimed, bombed, driven from their homes and denied access to humanitarian assistance,” he said.
“I reiterate my call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, as well as a process that will lead to lasting peace” in the region on the basis of “a two-state solution” because “it is the only way to alleviate suffering and prevent the conflict from worsening and igniting the entire region.”
Since October 7, the Zionist entity has carried out incessant air, sea and land attacks on the Gaza Strip, leaving at least 24,448 martyrs, mostly women and children, and 61,504 injured, according to Palestinian health authorities. .
