Peskov Warns Tomahawk Missile Transfers to Ukraine Could Trigger Major Escalation

The potential transfer of Tomahawk cruise missiles from the United States to Ukraine would mark a significant escalation, pushing the conflict to a “qualitatively new level,” according to Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
Addressing reporters at the Kremlin, Peskov underscored the grave implications of such a decision by Washington:
“The delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine would represent a deliberate step toward a qualitatively new level of escalation.”
Analysts note that these missiles, with a range of up to 2,500 kilometers, would enable Ukraine to target strategic sites deep within Russian territory, potentially drawing NATO into direct military confrontation with Russia.
Peskov’s remarks come amid reports that the Pentagon is prepared to supply the missiles, ahead of a critical meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday, where the issue of missile transfers is expected to be a central topic. Moscow has repeatedly cautioned that such actions would cross a “red line.”
