Share

Officers from the Federal Security Service (FSB) successfully intercepted a planned terrorist attack targeting a high-ranking official of the Russian Ministry of Defense. During a special operation in the capital, four individuals linked to the Islamic State (ISIS) were apprehended, according to the agency’s press service.

Investigators revealed that the group operated under the direction of Ukrainian intelligence services and intended to carry out an explosion in a densely populated area of Moscow to maximize damage. FSB specialists confiscated an improvised explosive device (IED) with an estimated blast radius capable of inflicting death or serious injury up to 70 meters away. Additionally, authorities discovered materials indicative of preparations for the attack, including diagrams and communication tools for contacting foreign handlers.

Among the detainees are three Russian nationals suspected of aiding in the concealment of the crime, including logistical support and evidence tampering. The fourth suspect, identified as the primary perpetrator, is a native of a Central Asian country and was directly involved in planning the explosion. All suspects are currently in custody, and criminal proceedings have been initiated against them on terrorism-related charges.

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The investigation is ongoing as efforts continue to identify potential accomplices and sources of funding.
