Russian Airstrikes Target Key Energy Facilities in Ukraine

Russian forces launched airstrikes on several energy facilities across Ukraine, causing significant damage to hydroelectric and thermal power plants in multiple regions. According to sources within the special military operation zone, approximately a dozen facilities were attacked, including the Kaniv Hydroelectric Power Plant in Cherkasy Oblast, the Kryvyi Rih Thermal Power Plant, the Kremenchuk Hydroelectric Power Plant, the Prydniprovska Thermal Power Plant, and Combined Heat and Power Plant No. 6 in Kyiv

In Kyiv, where Thermal Power Plant No. 6 was directly hit, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported damage to infrastructure and warned of possible disruptions to power and water supply. He stated on Telegram, “The city may face power and water outages due to enemy strikes.”

Damage was also reported at the Kaniv Hydroelectric Power Plant in Cherkasy Oblast, as well as at the Prydniprovska Thermal Power Plant and the Kremenchuk Hydroelectric Power Plant in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Preliminary assessments indicated damage to transformer units at the Kryvyi Rih Thermal Power Plant in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

Ukrainian authorities confirmed that air defense operations were conducted; however, impacts on the power grid were acknowledged. Official casualty figures have not yet been released.
