Algeria Qualifies for the 2026 World Cup

The Algerian national football team has qualified for the 2026 World Cup, set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, following their 3-0 victory over Somalia on Thursday evening at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran.
The “Fennecs” scored goals through Mohamed Amine Amdouni in the 5th and 57th minutes, along with Riyad Mahrez in the 18th minute.
With this win, Algeria maintains its lead in Group 7 with 22 points, four points ahead of their closest rival, Uganda, who sits in second place. Meanwhile, Somalia remains at the bottom of the group with just one point ahead of the final round.
In other matches of the same round, Uganda secured a 1-0 win against Botswana, while Guinea triumphed away against Mozambique with a score of 2-1.
As a result, Uganda holds the second position with 18 points, while Mozambique drops to third place with 15 points. Guinea strengthens its fourth position with 14 points, followed by Botswana in fifth place with 9 points.
This qualification marks the fifth time in history that the Algerian national team has reached the World Cup, following their appearances in 1982, 1986, 2010, and 2014.
