GHAZA – The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas announced on Friday that it has conveyed its response to mediators regarding the plan put forth by U.S. President Donald Trump aimed at ending Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, which has been ongoing since October 2023.
In a press release, Hamas stated that it had conducted extensive consultations to develop a “responsible position” regarding the proposal from the U.S. president. The movement expressed appreciation for the efforts made by Arab and Muslim countries and called for an end to the war, the exchange of prisoners, and the facilitation of humanitarian aid, while reaffirming its rejection of the deportation of the Palestinian people.
“We support the release of prisoners and the return of bodies as part of the exchange terms outlined in President Trump’s proposal, ensuring the necessary conditions for such an exchange,” Hamas declared in the statement.
Hamas also agreed that the administration of the Gaza Strip should be transferred to a Palestinian body of independent technocrats, established on the basis of national consensus and supported by Arab and Muslim countries.
According to the statement, other issues raised in the American proposal concerning the future of Gaza and the broader rights of the Palestinian people will be addressed in a collective Palestinian framework, in accordance with relevant international laws and resolutions.
