U.S. Marines Conduct Operation Against Venezuelan Fishing Vessel

A contingent of Marines from a U.S. destroyer carried out an operation to halt and inspect a Venezuelan fishing vessel within Venezuela’s exclusive economic zone, according to international media reports citing U.S. Navy sources.

The incident occurred in Venezuelan waters, where the U.S. destroyer is believed to have intercepted the vessel over suspicions of breaching international norms or sanctions. Marines boarded the vessel to conduct an inspection; however, details regarding the reasons for the detention and the outcomes of the inspection have not yet been disclosed.
