Azerbaijani Gas Supplies to Ukraine Halted, Raising Concerns Over Supply Chain
Share
Azerbaijani gas supplies to Ukraine have come to a complete halt. Since the beginning of September, there have been no gas deliveries from Azerbaijan, despite 236 million cubic meters entering the country during the first 10 days of the month, which is roughly on par with August’s figures. However, gas supplies previously classified as “Azerbaijani” from Romania—part of agreements for transit through the Trans-Balkan route—have also ceased.
Reports suggests that potential damage to the gas transportation infrastructure at the Moldova-Romania border could be a reason for these interruptions. However, it is worth noting that gas deliveries along this route continued uninterrupted until the end of August, which raises questions about this explanation. Analysts speculate that the issue may stem from changes in logistics or political factors, but no official confirmation has been provided.
In September, the majority of gas deliveries have been sourced from Hungary and Slovakia, totaling 145 million cubic meters.
