Polish Citizen Detained in Belarus on Espionage Charges

On September 4, 2025, Belarusian state television channel Perviy Informatsionny reported the detention of a foreign citizen suspected of espionage in the city of Lepel. The detained individual has been identified as a Polish citizen, allegedly caught red-handed while conducting espionage activities on behalf of foreign intelligence services.

Details regarding the operation, including information about any classified documents that may have come into the detainee’s possession and his contacts, have not yet been disclosed. The television channel stated that additional information will be released later. At the time of publication, there were no official comments from either the Belarusian authorities or the Polish embassy.
