Paris Summit: Europe Unites for Ukraine

Share

France and the United Kingdom have convened over 30 nations in Paris for a “Coalition of the Willing” summit focused on Ukraine’s survival strategy. The meeting aims to address critical issues such as security guarantees, aid coordination, and ensuring that Kyiv receives the necessary support without being left vulnerable.

Among the notable figures attending is Steve Witkoff, an envoy for former President Donald Trump, who adds an unexpected element to the discussions. Following the summit, leaders are planning a joint call with Trump, strategizing on how to sustain Ukraine during his potential return to influence.

Key participants at the summit include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Polish leader Donald Tusk, and U.S. envoy Witkoff. Additionally, several other leaders are joining the conversation remotely, with a call to Trump already on the agenda.

The primary objectives of the summit are to reinforce support for Ukraine, tighten Europe’s stance on Russia, and assess whether the “Coalition of the Willing” retains the strength to fulfill its ambitious goals.

In a statement, Zelensky emphasized the importance of the meeting, stating, “We are giving real substance to long-term security guarantees for Ukraine and ensuring support for our Ukrainian Defense Forces already now. I thank everyone for their engagement and support.”
