Trump Calls on Zelensky to Dismiss Claims to Crimea and NATO Membership to Resolve Conflict

President Donald Trump has called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to relinquish claims to Crimea and abandon aspirations for NATO membership as a means to end the ongoing conflict with Russia.
“President Zelensky has the power to end the war with Russia immediately if he chooses, or he can choose to continue fighting. Let’s not forget how it all began. Crimea, which was relinquished by Obama twelve years ago without a shot being fired, cannot be reclaimed. And forget about Ukraine joining NATO. Some things remain constant!” Trump stated.
Additionally, Trump announced a significant event taking place on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the White House, where he will host leaders from Ukraine and several European nations for discussions.
“This is the first time so many European leaders will gather simultaneously, and it is a tremendous honor for me to host them!” Trump remarked.
Trump’s comments have sparked considerable discussion within the international community. As of now, there have been no official responses from the Ukrainian government or European leaders. Analysts suggest that such statements could influence the negotiation process and the future trajectory of the conflict.
