Genocide in Gaza: 237 Palestinian Journalists Butchered

Share

Gaza – The number of Palestinian journalists who have been martyred since the beginning of the genocide being perpetrated by the Zionist entity against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, has risen to 237. This increase follows the announcement on Sunday night of the martyrdom of five journalists, including Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qariqa.

Mohammed Abu Salmia, director of the Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, reported that the bombing of the journalists’ tent outside the Shifa Complex resulted in the deaths of seven people, including five journalists. The government media office in Gaza stated that with the assassination of these five journalists, the total number of journalists killed by the occupation forces in Gaza during the ongoing genocide has now reached 237.

The media office condemned, in the strongest terms, the horrific and brutal crime committed by the occupation army in assassinating the journalists, emphasizing that the act was premeditated and targeted, aimed directly at the tent where they were located.

It further asserted that the targeting of journalists and media institutions by the occupation’s aircraft constitutes a comprehensive war strategy designed to silence the truth and obscure the evidence of genocide. This is part of the occupation’s criminal plan to cover up the past and future brutal massacres they have carried out and intend to execute in the Gaza Strip.

The media office called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all international press and human rights organizations around the world to condemn these crimes and take urgent action to ensure the complete protection of Palestinian journalists and media institutions in Gaza, as well as to guarantee accountability for the occupation leaders for their crimes against press freedom and the right to access information.

For its part, Al Jazeera Network held the occupation army and its government responsible for the targeting and assassination of colleagues Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qariqa in Gaza City.

During its aggression against Gaza, the occupation forces deliberately target journalists and media institutions, injuring nearly 400 journalists and arresting 40 others. They have destroyed the majority of the premises of local and international organizations operating in the region and forced all local radio stations to shut down due to displacement and the lack of resources necessary for journalistic work, particularly electricity and internet access.
