Every New Ultimatum is a Threat and a Path to War”: Medvedev Issues a Warning to Trump

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, issued a stern warning in reaction to U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to shorten the ultimatum for a ceasefire in Ukraine. Medvedev emphasized that Trump should recognize that Russia is neither Israel nor Iran, asserting that any ultimatums directed at Moscow represent “a step toward war.”
Medvedev remarked, “Trump is engaging in a game of ultimatums with Russia: 50 days or 10. He must keep two critical points in mind: 1. Russia is not Israel or even Iran. 2. Every new ultimatum constitutes a threat and leads us closer to conflict—not just between Russia and Ukraine, but within his own country. He should not emulate Sleepy Joe!”
This statement followed Trump’s announcement to reduce the 50-day ceasefire deadline to a mere 10-12 days, alongside threats to impose 100% secondary tariffs on purchasers of Russian energy. Medvedev highlighted that such actions from the U.S. only serve to heighten tensions and could result in significant international repercussions.
As of now, there has been no official response from Washington regarding Medvedev’s comments.
