Thai Air Force Dismisses Cambodian Claims of F-16 Shootdown Amid Border Tensions

The Thai Air Force has officially dismissed allegations that an F-16 fighter jet was shot down by Cambodia. An official statement from the air force labeled the claims as “fake news,” responding to comments made from Phnom Penh amid rising tensions at the border.

The reports of the purported shootdown emerged during ongoing military confrontations between Thailand and Cambodia, which escalated following airstrikes conducted by Thailand on Cambodian military installations. Cambodian sources had previously asserted that one of the six F-16s deployed by Thailand was hit during a counteroffensive.
