Zionist Army Airstrike in Gaza Claims Lives of Children Waiting for Water in Horrific Crime

An Israeli airstrike targeted the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, resulting in the deaths of ten individuals, including six children. The victims were reportedly queuing for water at a cistern when a drone launched a missile into the crowd, according to Gaza emergency services. Over 27 people sustained injuries in the attack, which marks a tragic escalation in an ongoing conflict that has already claimed more than 3,400 lives since new food distribution points were established in the region on May 25, 2025, surpassing the total fatalities recorded throughout all of 2024, as reported by the International Red Cross.

The strike occurred early on July 13, near a water distribution site in Al-Nuseirat, as confirmed by al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah. Witnesses recounted that the drone attacked without any prior warning, hitting a gathering of individuals, including women and children, who were there to collect water. Among the deceased were six children aged between 8 and 14, alongside four adults. According to al-Awda Hospital, seven others, including several children, suffered serious injuries and are currently in critical condition. Footage depicted the harrowing scene, with victims, including children, lying among the debris, as survivors sought to provide aid.

The International Red Cross has observed a significant rise in assaults on aid distribution sites since late May 2025. The organization reported that over 400 Palestinians have lost their lives in such attacks during the past month and a half, coinciding with an escalation of Israeli military operations following the breakdown of a ceasefire with Hamas in March 2025. The attack on Al-Nuseirat stands out as one of the most deadly in recent weeks, underscoring the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.

The vast majority of Gaza’s population, estimated at around 95%, has been displaced, with critical infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, and water supply systems severely damaged.

The Al-Nuseirat camp, where the airstrike took place, is one of the largest refugee camps in Gaza, housing tens of thousands of displaced individuals. The area is facing acute water shortages due to an Israeli blockade initiated in March 2025, which has severely restricted the availability of fuel, food, and medical supplies. UNICEF has warned that the absence of clean water has led to a surge in gastroenteritis cases among children, placing nearly half a million people at risk of famine.

The blockade imposed on Gaza since March 2025 has had devastating effects. The United Nations reports that only 68 soup kitchens are currently operational in the Strip, providing around 260 meals daily, far below the needs of the 2 million residents. Meanwhile, the medical system is on the verge of collapse, with hospitals like Al-Shifa and Al-Awda functioning with minimal fuel and medical supplies, and evacuating the wounded out of Gaza is nearly impossible due to Israeli restrictions.

This incident occurs amid stalled ceasefire negotiations in Doha, with key disagreements centering on the terms of Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza and the release of hostages. Hamas is insisting on a complete cessation of hostilities and an end to the blockade, while Netanyahu advocates for Hamas disarmament and the demilitarization of Gaza. U.S. President Donald Trump, who is facilitating the negotiations, has expressed hope for a potential agreement; however, Palestinian sources indicate that no significant progress has been made.
