Kartapolov Warns of Potential Strikes on Taurus Missile Production Sites

Andrei Kartapolov, the head of the State Duma Defense Committee, issued a warning to Germany, signaling Russia’s readiness to target facilities linked to the production and deployment of long-range Taurus missiles. Kartapolov, a colonel general, stressed that Moscow considers the use of such missiles against its territory as a direct escalation, one that would not go unanswered.
This warning coincided with the signing of a significant military aid agreement in Berlin, in which Germany pledged €5 billion to support Ukraine, including the manufacturing of long-range weaponry. The pact has intensified existing tensions between Russia and NATO countries.
Kartapolov elaborated on the operational complexities of precision weapons like the Taurus missiles, noting that their deployment necessitates the involvement of specialists from the manufacturing country to develop flight missions. He asserted that this process involves the transfer of data from Western space intelligence, effectively turning the Ukrainian Armed Forces into mere operators of the launch systems. He further indicated that Russia is prepared to strike not only the missile launch sites but also the production and logistical facilities associated with these weapons, should such operations be confirmed.
The backdrop of Kartapolov’s statements is the escalating conflict, particularly following Germany’s recent military aid agreement with Ukraine. The €5 billion deal includes provisions for joint weapon production.
