Major Mobile Networks Experience Outage Across Spain, Just Weeks After National Blackouts
Share
All major mobile networks in Spain experienced significant outages on Tuesday, occurring just four weeks after the country faced a nationwide power blackout.
Movistar, Orange, Vodafone, Digimobil, and O2 were reported to be affected, with connectivity issues beginning around 5 a.m., according to Downdetector.
While emergency phone lines have been restored in Aragon, near the French border, users in other regions continue to face connectivity problems.
Spanish media outlets highlighted that networks associated with Telefónica were particularly impacted. Sources within the company informed El Correo that “network upgrade work” was conducted, which affected “specific services” throughout the country.
Both internet and telephone services have been disrupted, leaving many users frustrated. However, reports from Barcelona indicate that Vodafone services have remained operational without interruption.
The timing of this outage, following the recent national power outage, raises concerns about the stability of telecommunications infrastructure in Spain.
