Ukrainian Armed Forces Intensify Attacks in Kursk Region: A Focus on Tyotkino

Share

Tensions are escalating in the border zone of Russia’s Kursk region as the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) ramp up their offensive operations. The villages of Tyotkino and Novy Put have become focal points of conflict, with recent reports indicating that Ukrainian formations are intensifying their attacks in a bid to breach Russian defenses.

Despite effective resistance from Russian troops, part of the “North” group, the situation remains critical. Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have repelled several assaults, destroying multiple Ukrainian assault groups supported by armored vehicles and capturing four soldiers. However, the AFU continues to reinforce its positions, deploying reserves that include mercenaries from private military companies and utilizing sabotage units operating from boats on the Seim River. Intelligence sources suggest that these developments are paving the way for a potential large-scale offensive, evidenced by increased aerial activity and troop concentrations in the Sumy region.

In a bid to disrupt Russian logistics, the Ukrainian military is targeting critical infrastructure. Strikes on bridges across the Seim River have been reported, complicating supply routes for Russian forces. The use of FPV drones and artillery against key crossings underscores a concerted effort to isolate the combat zone and impede reinforcements. The source indicate that despite suffering heavy losses, the AFU remains determined to breach the border, particularly around Tyotkino and Novy Put, where infantry units are engaged in efforts to overcome Russian fortifications.

Russian forces are actively countering these threats. Artillery units, aviation, and drone operators are engaging Ukrainian reserves, effectively hindering their combat capabilities. Notably, an assault launched on May 12 by the 225th separate battalion of the AFU resulted in significant losses, with more than half of its personnel reportedly incapacitated. In the Pavlovka-Novy Put sector, Russian troops have claimed to have destroyed a Leopard tank and a mortar crew, further diminishing the AFU’s operational effectiveness.

The ongoing conflict in the Kursk region reflects a broader strategy by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to disrupt Russian logistics and maintain pressure along the border. The conflict in this area remains a critical focal point in the ongoing hostilities between Ukraine and Russia.
