On April 29, 2025, Reza Pahlavi who was Crown Prince of Iran in 1967. Took to the social media platform X to accuse the Islamic Republic of Iran of deliberately obscuring the causes and repercussions of a significant explosion that occurred in Bandar Abbas on April 26. Pahlavi’s statement highlighted what he termed the regime’s habitual reliance on “repression, lies, and concealment” rather than embracing transparency and accountability.
The exiled “ prince” voiced his concerns that Iranian authorities have failed to disclose critical information regarding the “extremely dangerous cargo” that had entered the country without proper customs declaration. He claimed that this cargo, disguised as ordinary goods, was stored at the port, and described the incident not as a mere accident or a result of human error, but as an act of “organized crime.” Pahlavi drew parallels between this disaster and the regime’s history of atrocities, referencing the 1978 arson attack on the Rex Cinema that claimed nearly 400 lives. “Not only does the regime not value Iranian lives, but it ruthlessly uses the people as human shields to achieve its nefarious goals,” he stated.
Pahlavi asserted that in the 46 years of the Islamic Republic, “no material has been more deadly to Iran than the regime itself and its corrupt leadership.”
Bandar Abbas, located in Hormozgan Province, is Iran’s largest port and a crucial hub for trade and logistics, particularly under the weight of international sanctions. Historically, the port has served as an essential communication channel with the outside world, especially during the Iran-Iraq War from 1980 to 1988. However, details surrounding the recent explosion remain murky.
Local media outlets, including IRNA, reported an “incident in the port area” but did not clarify its scale or origins, only stating that the situation was “under control.”
A retired Israeli General suggested Israeli involvement stressing : “ The attack was on fuel for ballistic rockets. So it makes sense that this is a planned attack and not an accident.”
