Algiers – In a significant counterterrorism operation, two foreign terrorists were shot dead by the Algerian National People’s Army (ANP) on March 21, 2025, in In Guezzam, according to a statement released by the Ministry of National Defense (MDN) on Saturday.
The operation, part of ongoing efforts to secure Algeria’s borders, involved ANP detachments from the In Guezzam operational sector within the 6th Military Region. The statement confirmed that the terrorists had illegally crossed into the country before being neutralized by the military.
In addition to eliminating the threats, the operation resulted in the seizure of a sniper rifle, three magazines, a substantial cache of ammunition, a Thuraya satellite phone, a four-wheel-drive vehicle, and other equipment.
“This operation underscores the ANP’s vigilance and unwavering determination to protect Algeria’s national borders against any intrusion attempts,” the MDN emphasized in its communiqué, highlighting the ongoing commitment to maintaining security within the region.
