Breaking News: Heathrow Airport to Resume Limited Flights Today Following Power Restoration

Share

Heathrow Airport has announced plans to resume some flight operations later today after successfully restoring power following a recent outage. A spokesperson for the airport stated, “Our teams have worked tirelessly since the incident to ensure a speedy recovery. We’re pleased to say we’re now safely able to begin some flights.”

Initially, the airport will focus on repatriation flights and relocating aircraft. Travelers are advised not to head to the airport unless their airline has specifically instructed them to do so.

Heathrow is actively collaborating with airlines to facilitate the repatriation of passengers who were diverted to other airports across Europe. The airport aims to fully resume operations by tomorrow and will provide updates as the situation evolves.

“Our priority remains the safety of our passengers and those working at the airport,” the spokesperson emphasized. As Europe’s busiest airport, Heathrow’s operations require significant energy, comparable to that of a small city, which makes the return to full capacity a gradual process. The airport has apologized for the inconvenience caused by the disruption.

This development follows an announcement from the National Grid, which confirmed that an “interim solution” has been implemented to restore power to the airport.
