Russian Forces Expand Control in Kursk Region

The Russian Ministry of Defence has announced a significant military advance in the Kursk region, where Russian troops have reclaimed 12 settlements and over 100 square kilometers of territory. The newly liberated areas include Agronom, Bogdanovka, Bondarevka, Dmitryukov, Zazulevka, Ivashkovsky, Kolmakov, Kubatkin, Martynovka, Mikhailovka, Pravda, and Yuzhny. This operation was executed by units of the North group of forces, which are intensifying their offensive actions to dislodge Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) that entered the region in August 2024.

According to military officials, the recent advances not only restored control over significant land but also inflicted considerable damage on Ukrainian forces. Key supply and evacuation routes used by the AFU were destroyed, along with several drone control points and ammunition depots. This strategic progress forms part of a larger campaign aimed at regaining dominance in a region that has seen active combat since last summer.
Despite these developments, the Kremlin has refrained from providing specific timelines for the complete liberation of the Kursk region. Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov addressed the media, stating that while Russian troops are making every effort to dislodge the Ukrainian forces swiftly, the timeframe for full control is contingent upon various factors, including the dynamics of military operations and the actions of Ukrainian forces.
