Norway’s Haltbakk Bunkers Stops Fuel Supply to U.S. Military, Citing Discontent with U.S. Policy on Ukraine

Norwegian fuel supplier Haltbakk Bunkers has announced it will cease providing fuel to U.S. military forces in Norway and American ships docking at Norwegian ports. The decision stems from the company’s dissatisfaction with recent U.S. policy regarding Ukraine.
In a strongly worded statement, Haltbakk Bunkers criticized a televised event featuring U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, labeling it as the “biggest shitshow ever presented live on TV.” The company expressed admiration for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s restraint and accused the U.S. of orchestrating a “backstabbing TV show” that left them feeling “sick.”
Haltbakk Bunkers declared, “We have decided to immediately STOP as fuel provider to American forces in Norway and their ships calling Norwegian ports. No Fuel to Americans!” The company encouraged Norwegians and Europeans to follow suit, concluding their statement with the slogan “Slava Ukraina” in support of Ukraine.
About Haltbakk Bunkers
Haltbakk Bunkers, based in Kristiansund, Norway, specializes in marine fuel supply for both civilian and military operations. The company plays a crucial role in Norway’s maritime industry, providing bunkering services for vessels in Norwegian waters, including NATO and allied forces.
This decision to cut off fuel supplies to the U.S. military could have significant logistical repercussions for American naval operations in the region, particularly as Norway is a key NATO member that frequently hosts U.S. and allied forces for joint exercises and Arctic defense initiatives.
The announcement raises important questions about the broader European stance on U.S. policy toward Ukraine and whether other businesses or governments may take similar actions. It underscores the increasing willingness of private companies in Europe to respond independently to geopolitical developments.
As of now, the U.S. government has not issued a response to Haltbakk Bunkers’ decision, leaving uncertainty regarding the potential impact on fuel supply chains for American forces operating in Norway and the North Atlantic region.
