JEDDAH (Saudi Arabia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf affirmed, Wednesday in Jeddah, that the Zionist occupation wants, through “its odious and shameful practices” towards neighboring countries , plunging the region into a cycle of crises, conflicts and endless wars.
In a speech delivered at the extraordinary ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on “the incessant crimes committed by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people and its attacks on the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran” , Mr. Attaf indicated that these actions embody “the policy of escalation adopted by the colonial Zionist occupation as an approach, method, plan and strategy vis-à-vis neighboring countries, with the aim of concealing the essence and substance of the conflict in the region, to divert the attention of the international community from the genocidal war underway in the occupied Palestinian territories, and to promote the false image in which no one believes anymore, that of an entity without defense, besieged and victim in a hostile neighborhood”.
“Our extraordinary meeting aims to discuss the dangerous and unbridled developments in the Middle East region, developments that the colonial Zionist occupation is trying to impose on the countries and people of the region as a new reality characterized by tensions, crises and incessant conflicts on more than one front,” according to Mr. Attaf.
For the minister, “these scandalous behaviors and these shameful practices” which aim to “plunge the region into a cycle of crises and endless wars, prove without a shadow of a doubt that the Israeli settlement occupation is not not inclined to peace, and in no way believes in the idea of peace, nor in the option of peace as a strategic option (…) this entity believes, by her words and her actions, that her security and its stability are in the insecurity and instability of its neighborhood, and that to ensure its security, it must deprive its neighborhood of its own (…) it considers that it must make an exception to all the rules of peaceful and civilized coexistence established by the international community.
Mr. Attaf also recalled the reaction of the Zionist occupation to the triumph of the just Palestinian cause at the international level, through “its obstinacy in committing crimes, the official adoption of a decision which refuses the establishment of “Palestinian state and an all-out war on all fronts in the region: in Syria, Yemen, Lebanon and recently in Iran.”
In this perspective, adds the minister, “Algeria reiterates its condemnation in the strongest terms of the cowardly terrorist attack targeting Iran, a brotherly country, which cost the life of the head of the Hamas Political Bureau, the Martyr Ismail Haniyeh.
“The rights of peoples and their national causes cannot be annihilated through the annihilation of their spokesmen and their defenders, just as they cannot be buried with the martyrs who fell in their name. These are unwavering rights which are not lost and causes which are not forgotten as long as there is a people who believe in their legitimacy and their rightness”, added Mr. Attaf who expressed his sincere condolences and his deep feelings of compassion to the people Palestinian in this painful ordeal, and to “Iran, a brother country, its most sincere feelings of solidarity in the face of the cowardly and reprehensible terrorist attack”.
Given the diplomatic efforts made for de-escalation, the minister considers it necessary to insist on three essential points. The first is that “these de-escalation efforts must not focus on the secondary aspects of the conflict and ignore the substance”.
In other words, he continued, “de-escalation must begin with stopping the ongoing genocidal war in the occupied Palestinian territories and in Gaza specifically.” As for the second point, he insists that “these de-escalation efforts be directed first and foremost towards the aggressor and the main person responsible for the serious developments that the region is experiencing”, believing that it is above all necessary to put an end to tyranny of the usurping and arrogant Israeli occupier and to bring it to an end to its limitless violations and excesses in Palestine and throughout the immediate neighborhood of Palestine.
As for the 3rd and final point, “de-escalation efforts must go beyond the cyclical factor and be part of a broader and long-term framework”, said the minister, for whom “the achievement of lasting peace and security sustainability in the region remains dependent on the treatment of the Palestinian question and its solution in accordance with the constants, references and rules agreed by the international community, and this through the establishment of the legal and legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, to their head, the inalienable right to the establishment of its independent and sovereign State, with El-Quds as its capital”.
