The British Prime Minister reiterates his country’s positions in support of a ceasefire in Gaza

Ramallah – British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, renewed on Sunday his country’s positions in support of a ceasefire in Gaza and the provision of humanitarian aid, stressing his readiness to work with the Palestinian government and enhance cooperative relations between the two countries, according to the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa).

This came during a phone call between the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, and the British Prime Minister, who was congratulated on the occasion of his party’s victory in the British parliamentary elections, its formation of the new British government, and the beginning of its duties. “Wafa” reported that Starmer renewed his country’s positions in support of a ceasefire, the provision of humanitarian aid, the release of hostages, and the importance of releasing detained Palestinian funds.

This came during a phone call between the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, and the British Prime Minister, who was congratulated on the occasion of his party’s victory in the British parliamentary elections, its formation of the new British government, and the beginning of its duties.

“Wafa” reported that Starmer renewed his country’s positions in support of a ceasefire, the provision of humanitarian aid, the release of hostages, and the importance of releasing detained Palestinian funds.

He also confirmed his readiness to work with the Palestinian government and receive its Prime Minister, noting that the British Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, will soon visit Palestine to continue political discussions and strengthen cooperation relations between the two countries.

For his part, the Palestinian President expressed his confidence that the formation of the new British government will contribute to strengthening the mutual relations of friendship and cooperation between the two friendly countries and peoples.

During the call, President Abbas briefed the British Prime Minister on the latest developments in the situation in the Palestinian territories and the immediate need to respond to international efforts for a ceasefire, the entry of humanitarian aid, the withdrawal of the occupation forces from the entire Gaza Strip, and the release of Palestinian funds seized by the Zionist entity.

The President affirmed his readiness to work with the British Prime Minister to make peace, through a two-state solution based on international legitimacy, calling for the importance of Britain’s recognition of the State of Palestine.

The Palestinian President and the British Prime Minister agreed to continue coordination and communications to follow up on the issues raised and strengthen bilateral relations.
