Madrid – The Spanish government adopted on Tuesday, during a Council of Ministers meeting, a decree officially recognizing the State of Palestine, the government spokeswoman announced.
The Spanish Prime Minister said in a speech hours before the Council of Ministers adopted the decision to officially recognize the State of Palestine, that this recognition, in coordination with Ireland and Norway, is a “necessity” in order to “achieve peace.” Last Wednesday, Spain announced, along with Ireland and Norway, that it would join the countries that recognize the State of Palestine, and that this decision will enter into force today (May 28).
