United Nations: UNRWA is facing severe pressure

United Nations – A United Nations spokesman said on Friday that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is under severe pressure.
Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, citing UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini, said, “The agency has reached a breaking point with the Zionist occupation’s repeated calls to dismantle UNRWA and freeze funding by donors.”
Dujarric added that Lazzarini’s warning indicates a critical juncture for UNRWA, which is charged with helping Palestinian refugees, explaining, “The agency’s ability to implement the mandate granted to it under General Assembly Resolution No. 302 is now seriously threatened.”
This unstable situation puts essential services that benefit millions at risk, underscoring the urgent need to take supportive measures.
