Washington – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that about 2,400 children were killed in Gaza and more than 5,300 were injured as a result of the ongoing Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip for the eighteenth day in a row, which is equivalent to the death or injury of more than 400 children every day.
The statement of the organization concerned with children’s rights and support stated that about 100 Palestinians were martyred, including 28 children, and at least 160 children were injured in the West Bank.
UNICEF called for an immediate halt to the Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip, and for relief to reach the Strip in a sustainable and unhindered manner.
UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Adele Khader, explained that the killing, maiming and kidnapping of children, attacks on hospitals and schools, and preventing the arrival of humanitarian aid constitute grave violations of children’s rights. She expressed concerns about the possibility of an increase in the number of martyrs unless tension is eased and humanitarian aid is allowed in, including food, water, medical supplies and fuel.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced yesterday that the death toll as a result of the ongoing Zionist aggression since October 7 in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank had risen to 5,795 martyrs, and the number of wounded reached about 18,000.
The ministry added that the percentage of martyrs among children, women and the elderly reached 70 percent.
