Algeria’s ambassador in Bamako: The Malian MFA reaffirm the centrality of the Algiers agreement

BAMAKO- The Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop received Friday, the Ambassador of Algeria to Mali, El Haoues Riache in audience, during which the two parties reaffirmed the centrality of the Agreement for peace and reconciliation, resulting from the Algiers process in the search for peace and national cohesion in Mali, indicates a press release from the Malian ministry. “The discussions mainly focused on the prospects of the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation, resulting from the Algiers agreement , in a context of withdrawal of Minusma (United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali)” country, we read in the press release. “The centrality of the Agreement in the search for peace and national cohesion has been reaffirmed”, adds the same source. In this regard, Mr. Diop renewed the Malian government’s commitment to advancing the peace process “in a new dynamic of internalization and national appropriation by favoring direct and inter-Malian dialogue, without interference from outside the region, driven by geopolitical interests and ulterior motives”.
After having sent, on behalf of the highest Algerians, his condolences to the Malian nation following the recent terrorist attacks which caused numerous losses of human lives, Mr. Riache recognized “the need to strengthen internal mechanisms and endogenous capacities aimed at promoting of inter-Malian dialogue as part of the peace process”, underlines the press release. Referring to the sub-regional situation, the Malian minister and his host clearly indicated that “the region will no longer support the renewal of the Libyan case under the pretext of a resolution of the political crisis in Niger, rejecting, therefore, any military option against this country”.
Finally , the Malian minister welcomed “the significant efforts and the major role of Algeria in the search for peace in Mali”, before noting “the importance of continuing exchanges around the monitoring mechanisms of the Agreement for peace with a view to advancing the process in the best interests of the Malian people.”
